Well...I decided to have a long week end to Rosario: October 26-28, 2012. Rosario is about 300 Km away from Buenos Aires Capital Feeral. You can go there by bus and yes...by train as well...not many people know that you can get Rosario by train...and I decided to try this authentic experience ;) The railway company has a kind of website: but you cannot book on line..only at the station. No problem...so...on October 26 (the day of my departure) I took the bus till Retiro Station (Bus number 5...straight to Retiro)....In the bus I met a man that was going to the train as well and when Itold hi that I was going to buy a ticket he replied me: "No way....I bought my ticket 1 month ago...it's impossible to find one cause the trip is quite cheap and there is only 1 train!"....OOOOPS...so...what can I do? Ok....let's go and try to see if someone gave back his ticket cause he/she changed his travel plans!!...We arrived to the ticket office, we asked to the guard and the guard....looked at me and he told me...YOU ARE REALLY LUCKY....someone gave back his ticket so...I got MINE.... 30 pesos (4€) for my first class trip! ;) (130 pesos by bus!) The trip start.... Well...the first class train is like a 3rd Class in Europe but...the price is really really cheap...ok...the train is also very very slow...I guess the speed was never above 50 Km/h!! :) It took about 7 hours (4 hours by bus) but....I really enjoyed this trip. Well...even if my seat was next to the windows...theere was a doube window and the glass was in a very bad condition (cause the train pass through several "villas" and people often throw some stones to the train!) so...the landscape was not so...clean! ;) Well...what's a VILLA?...We'll talk about the Villas another time but anyway the Villas are some "Satellite" district...where the law....is their own law....where Police usually don't come in....there the rules are their own rules. Actually people there live because of the public subsidies from the government....so...they got some money even without working and then....all the other jobs they do is...under the table or...something else!! Poor people we should say...look at the way they live...well...: Yes and Not... This is a small interview made to a citizen of a Villa 1 year ago:" How to get to Villa 31? Reach for Paraguay in micro and saw that there was space in front and built my house (building 5floors high!!) Do you have electricity? Yes...I have.... Have you some water?Yes, I have. Do you pay for that? fNo...Nothing!Well If I give you US$ 100,000 do you go away? No minimum US$ 500,000 and not sure. Does not the quartermasterDominguez gave you $ 20,000 to go away? yes.... And why do not they leave? We grabbed the money and bought some stuff to make my house bigger...(and he laughed)." The situation with the Villas is really bad...they are growing day by day...and it's not easy...several people also say that those people are not touched there and they have their "freedom" in change of votes....Well...we'll talk about that another time...so...here we are again: ROSARIO. Life in Rosario costs about 25% less than in Capital Feeral (Buenos Aires). ...How much was the cost of my trip? So... 2 Dinners + 2 Lunches: 185 pesos. time Taxi: 18 pesos. Tour of the Island on the boat + Kayak (half day) 1 Bike tour (Half Day) 225 pesos. Hostel 2 nights (6 bed dorms) 120 pesos. Trip: Train 30 pesos Bus (return) 130 pesos TOTAL for ALL: 588 pesos (about 80 €) qui per effettuare modifiche.
